NU Online News Service, Aug. 17, 2:36 p.m. – Delta Dental Plans of Michigan, Lansing, Mich., has put up an electronic claims submission Web site for the dentists who treat its 4.3 million dental plan members.

The site will take claims from dentists who treat members of affiliated plans in Ohio and Indiana, as well as members in Michigan, Michigan Delta says.

Dentists who accept electronic fund transfers should receive payments on most electronic claims within 48 hours after filing the claims, the company says.

Dentists can also use the site to check whether patients are eligible for Delta Dental coverage, and ask for preauthorization for treatments that will cost $200 or more.

Michigan Delta plans to add detailed information about deductibles, allowable treatments and other plan features for most subscribers and dependents by the end of the year.

Michigan Delta is a member of the Delta Dental Plans Association, a nonprofit association that represents many large dental carriers.
