Kaiser Foundation CEO David Lawrence To Retire In 2002

NU Online News Service, July 23, 4:05 p.m. – Dr. David Lawrence, chairman and chief executive officer of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals, Oakland, Calif., says he will retire in December 2002.

Lawrence joined Kaiser Permanente, a company that helped establish the U.S. managed care movement, in 1981, when he was named to lead the Permanente Medical Group in Portland, Ore.

After holding several high-level executive jobs at Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Lawrence became chief executive officer in March 1992.

Kaiser has hired Korn/Ferry International Inc., Los Angeles, to find a successor.
