NU Online News Service, July 18, 2:25 p.m. – UnumProvident Corp., Chattanooga, Tenn., has introduced the LifeBalance program, a new employee benefit program that offers support services for employees who file for group long-term disability benefits or accelerated death benefits on group term life insurance policies.

The program provides 24-hour-a-day access to counseling and referral services over the telephone. In some cases, the counselors will arrange for services such as shoveling and transportation themselves, UnumProvident says.

The program will also provide services such as transportation to work for disabled employees who are still able to work but unable to drive.

Support services for accelerated group death benefit claimants will include bereavement counseling and help with simple wills.

Program participants will also get a guide to passing their knowledge and stories on to younger generations.
