NU Online News Service, July 11, 1:13 p.m. – American Medical Security Group Inc., Green Bay, Wis., says it's developing a new portfolio of small-group insurance products.

The company is starting the upgrade of its small-group line by introducing the GroupDentalChoice dental insurance policies in 20 states and the District of Columbia.

The policies should appeal to more employers than American Medical's old dental products, because they are simpler and more flexible, the company says.

The new plans feature deductibles of $25 or $50 each year, or a $100 lifetime deductible. The plans also feature a range of coinsurance and benefit maximums, and an orthodontic coverage option, American Medical says.

American Medical will begin selling the plans Aug. 1 in Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia.

The company is also seeking approval from state insurance regulators in seven other states.

American Medical is marketing the products to agents by running advertisements in national insurance industry magazines and mailing information about the products directly to agents.
