New York Insurance Department Names General Counsel

NU Online News Service, June 15, 12:15 p.m. – The New York State Insurance Department has named Audrey Samers to serve as deputy superintendent and general counsel.

Samers joined the department in 1998 as a special counsel advising the department on Holocaust-related issues. She was promoted to deputy general counsel in 1998, and first deputy general counsel in July 2000.

Samers has supervised life insurance demutualizations as well as other regulatory and corporate matters. She has also advised the department on court cases.

Before Samers joined the department, she was an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, New York. She has a bachelor?fs degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from Columbia University.
