Verner, Liipfert Expands Health Care Practice Group

NU Online News Service, June 7, 11:15 a.m. – Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand, Chartered, Washington, a law firm, has hired Howard Cohen, a health care lawyer, and Russell Mueller, a pension and health insurance actuary, away from Greenberg Traurig, Washington, another law firm.

Cohen and Mueller will join Verner's health care practice group, which represents health maintenance organizations and as well as health care providers.

Cohen served as chief health counsel on the House Commerce Committee, from 1995 to 1998, and as minority counsel on the Committee on Energy and Commerce from 1989 to 1995.

Cohen has a bachelor?fs degree from the University of Illinois, a doctorate in psychology from the University of Massachusetts and a law degree from George Washington University .

Mueller served for 25 years as an actuary for the House of Representatives. He acted as a spokesman on legislative and technical matters for the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. He was one of the aides who helped write the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

Mueller has a bachelor?fs degree from the University of Wisconsin. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
