The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards said Thursday that Susan John has been elected 2018 chair-elect of the Board of Directors.
As chair-elect, she will lead the development of the organization's policies and provide strategic direction in granting, upholding and promoting CFP certification.
John has served on the CFP Board of Directors since 2016 and has also completed two terms on the national Board of Directors for the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, serving as chair from 2010 to 2012.
In the planning profession since 1985, John is founder and president of Financial Focus Inc., which provides comprehensive planning services to northern New England professionals, retirees and families.
The Board of Directors elected John to the new role at its July meeting. Current Chair-elect Richard Salmen will serve as chair in 2018, with John becoming chair in 2019.
"I am excited to work with my colleagues on the Board as we continue to find ways to effectively carry out our mission of upholding CFP certification as the highest standard in personal financial planning," John said in a statement.
