The Financial Planning Association said Monday that it has hired Josephine Colacci as the association's new public policy counsel.
Colacci, who joins FPA after spending the past six years as the director of government affairs for the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management in Chicago, begins immediately. She will work alongside FPA Advocacy Director Karen Nystrom to develop and implement FPA's public policies and advocacy strategies, specifically as they relate to current and proposed federal legislation and regulations that affect certified financial planners.
Lauren Schadle, FPA's CEO and executive director, said Colacci "will hit the ground running given her past experience in government relations" and will be "invaluable representing FPA on the Financial Planning Coalition," which also includes the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors.
Colacci "will help move us forward on our joint policy positions with respect to the fiduciary [rulemaking] at the SEC, investment advisor oversight and the recognition and regulation of financial planners," Schadle said.
