This week in personnel announcements and new hires, ERISA named five new members to the ERISA Advisory Council; U.S. Bank welcomed Shannon Baustian and Gregory Block; New York Life named Kathleen Navarro chief diversity officer; Hope Brown has joined Calvert Investments as chief compliance officer for the Calvert Funds; and SevenHills Benefit Partners joined Pensionmark Retirement Group.
Also, Willie Thomas rejoined Merrill Lynch; James Capps went to Trust Company of America; and Envestnet made several personnel announcements.
Envestnet Announces Personnel Changes
Envestnet, Inc. has announced that Lori Hardwick has been promoted to group president of advisor services, a newly created position. She will continue to report to President Bill Crager.
Hardwick, who most recently served as executive vice president of advisory services, has been with the firm since its inception 15 years ago.
In addition, the firm announced promotions of the leaders of the major business lines within the advisor services organization whose companies have been acquired by Envestnet. They are: Richard Dion, EVP, head of strategic partnerships (previously with Placemark); John Harris, managing director, global sales manager (previously with Oberon Financial Technology); John Phoenix, managing director, independent advisor network sales (previously with Metamorphosis Money Management); Andrew Stavaridis, head of enterprise consulting (previously with FundQuest, Inc.); and John Yackel, managing director, institutional business development (previously with Prudential WMS).
Brown Joins Calvert Investments as Chief Compliance Officer
Calvert Investments announced that Hope Brown has joined the firm as chief compliance officer for the Calvert Funds. In her role, Brown will be responsible for administering Calvert Funds' compliance program. The CCO reports directly to the Boards of Directors and Trustees of the Calvert Funds, as well as the CEO of Calvert Investments, Inc.
Brown comes to Calvert with a wealth of industry knowledge and extensive experience overseeing daily compliance functions for mutual funds, investment advisors and broker-dealers. She served as chief compliance officer for the Wilmington Funds and vice president at Wilmington Trust Investment Advisors, Inc. Prior to that, she served as assistant vice president, lead manager, risk management and divisional compliance at T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland.
DOL Names New ERISA Advisory Council Members
The Department of Labor has named five new members–Elizabeth Ysla Leight, Jeffrey Stein, Jennifer Kamp Tretheway, Deborah Tully and Rennie Worsfold–to the 2015 Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans, also known as the ERISA Advisory Council. In addition, it was announced that current members Paul Secunda and Mark Schmidtke will serve as incoming chair and vice chair of the council.
Secunda is professor of law and director of the labor and employment law program at Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee. He previously practiced labor law in Philadelphia and was chair of the employee benefits and executive compensation section of the Association of American Law Schools.
Schmidtke is a shareholder with the law firm Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart P.C. in Valparaiso, Indiana and a fellow in the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.
Leight is director of government relations and legal affairs at the Society of Professional Benefit Administrators in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
Stein is general counsel to 22 Taft-Hartley funds and related organizations serving over 400,000 members of 1199SEIU United Health Care Workers East, a union of health care workers in New York City.
Tretheway, of Chicago, recently retired after 39 years as a trust company executive with Northern Trust.
Tully is the senior director of compensation and benefits finance and accounting analysis at Raytheon Co. in Waltham, Massachusetts.
