fi360 acquired in late February Financial Service Standards, a Pittsburgh-based organization specializing in training retirement plan advisors and developing practice management resources.

FSS is best known for its 401k Service Training Program, an educational program designed for retirement plan professionals that teaches plan management, ERISA regulations and industry best practices.

The firm also offers the 401k Service Solution, a comprehensive system for sales and service processes that includes more than 200 template documents.

Blaine Aikin, fi360's CEO, said in a statement that FSS' "best-in-class retirement training program is a natural next step" for fi360's accredited investment fiduciary (AIF) designees, "who are seeking to develop special expertise in serving the 401(k) plan market."

The purchase of FSS complements fi360's flagship AIF curriculum. "fi360 has always strived to offer the best practice management products and services to our designees," Aikin added. "The FSS acquisition will enable us to help advisors build successful retirement plan businesses."
